 COME ON INDIA !

What is more shocking is the eerie silence of the Fourth Estate. Editors hung their heads in shame after Ayodhya demolition but were silent spectators to the massacre of Hindus in Kashmir and razing of temples. They are shedding tears for an iconoclastic community which burns national flag in Kashmir, stabs policeman in Delhi when Saddam attacks Kuwait, kills people in Bombay when a book is written in London, which is responsible for majority of anti-social and anti-national activities and above all refuses to bow to it's own motherland. If definition of secularism is only being anti-Hindu then it is better to be communal.

- Ketan Shah (Indian Express, 15.12.92)

Media Mischief

We observe that a section of mainstream English press in our country does not miss any opportunity to revile the faith of the majority, on occasions using most unbecoming and unparliamentry language. The main aim is to hurt them in the name of secularism. No doubt, they are mostly quoted in Western and Pakistani media to the discomfiture of the majority in this country.

Their coverage in the print media with the kind of editorialising of the news is truly unforgivable as it militates against the basics of journalism. Such spewing of venom against Hindus causes avoidable discomfort and adversely affects their lives and routine due to irresponsible and provocative reporting in the name of secularism. It is premeditated and calculated irresponsibility not befitting the trumpeting these major English papers make about themselves.

The vicious secularists are mistaking a consequence for a cause when they lionise the minority and use unbecoming and abusive language against Hindus. Their arrogance and insults hurled at majority community is unbelievable because they have no fear, thanks to largely tolerant society, unlike other minorities who howl on the smallest pretext.

When it comes to America's ultra-nationalism in post 9/11 period, India's secular scribes endlessly refer to their cheerful understanding of nationalism expressed through democracy. But the same myopic and brazenly anti-Hindu journalists of a section of the English press express horror and shock on the rise of popular Hindu nationalism which is dubbed as surfacing of the resurgence of revivalists, Nazis and Fascists. No doubt, the agenda of English press is becoming irrelevant and devoid of India's changing political reality. They have lost sight of the main issue. Their world is bedeviled by the persistent asking of wrong questions with an aim to hurt the majority community.

We are today exactly not aware of the devastating consequences and poisonous effect of editorial line of self-styled champions of liberal press which calls itself secular. The atmosphere of prejudice very often translates into abysmal ignorance and senseless hatred for majority. They should be prepared for the reaction and the backlash.

Secularists are spreading 'gloom and doom' predicting disintegration of the society, sometimes by playing up of caste factor and magnifying its diversity. They dig up all the uncouth adjectives sullying them and their culture. But overuse of this abusive language expresses their vicarious mindset every time they use it.

There are obvious limits of media power when denigration of 3000-year old culture is shamelessly resorted to with calculated irresponsibility.

FAKE HISTORIANS & SOLD MEDIA

It is indeed unbelievable that Akhilesh Mithal in his weekly column 'Itihaas' published in the Asian Age has been pouring on venom on Hindus and Hindu organisations week after week with calculated irresponsibility.

ANATOMY OF A SMEAR : HINDUS WON’T ACCEPT ABUSES FROM ENGLISH MEDIA ANY LONGER

It is regrettable that an unbridled smear campaign against Hinduism is going on in a section of English press, which has not been able to exorcise the ghost of Indian brand of secularism.  A spate of senseless, wild comments, tinged with lunatic outbursts against Hindus have been surfacing signalling a crescendo of a well-orchestrated campaign of hatred with innuendo and half truths for quite sometime.

MEDIA FAILURE : MUST YOU HATE HINDUS SO MUCH?

Why does a Hindu feel cheated today? Why does his bid to imitate matching methods of contending for his faith, just as Muslims or Christians adopt, bring a howl of protest from English media?  Is it a crime for a Hindu to talk of Hindu psyche, Hindu ethos, the faith of his forefathers and act according to his own perception and on his own terms for his religion?

THE ROLE OF SECULAR PRESS : WHY MUSLIMS ARE NOT A PART OF THE MAINSTREAM ?

There is little doubt that the secular press in India is full of bias and is over-enthusiastic in defending Muslims, always portraying Hindus as bigots and obscurantists and as being members of a fractured, sinking and declining society. Thus the English press is not true friend of Muslims but mere appendage to political parties.

SECULAR MEDIA'S HINDU BASHING

On the recent victory of BJP in three states, MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, an inveterate anti-Hindu journalist Swaminathan S. Ankalesaria Ayer wrote an article in the Times of India (14.12.2003) entitled 'A victory that's actually bad news'. It ridiculed the Prime Minister Shri Vajpayee and claimed that it had nothing to do with his or his party's popularity.

THIS IS COMPLETE DELIRIUM

The indictment of the majority community runs somewhat on these lines in the print media today:

A rise of nationalism cannot but be a political menace. The country would be crushed beneath the backward roll of Hinduism. The BJP is not an organisation seeking to enforce humanism and ecumenism of Hinduism. It is a well-honed instrument of fraud designed for the pursuit of power by using Hinduism much the same way that the Third Reich used Aryan purity to usher in its fascist millennium. This is the most dangerous kind of politics propagating terror, conflict and hate.
