We
observe that a section of mainstream English press in our country does not miss
any opportunity to revile the faith of the majority, on occasions using most
unbecoming and unparliamentry
language. The main aim is to hurt them in the name of secularism. No doubt, they
are mostly quoted
in Western and Pakistani media to the discomfiture of the majority in this
country.
Their coverage in the print media with the kind of
editorialising of the news is truly unforgivable as it militates against the
basics of journalism. Such spewing of venom against Hindus causes avoidable
discomfort and adversely affects their lives and routine due to irresponsible
and provocative reporting in the name of secularism. It is premeditated and
calculated irresponsibility not befitting the trumpeting these major English
papers make about themselves.

The vicious secularists are mistaking a consequence for a
cause when they lionise the minority and use unbecoming and abusive language
against Hindus. Their arrogance and insults hurled at majority community is
unbelievable because they have no fear, thanks to largely tolerant society,
unlike other minorities who howl on the smallest pretext.
When it comes to America's ultra-nationalism in post 9/11
period, India's secular scribes endlessly refer to their cheerful understanding
of nationalism expressed through democracy. But the same myopic and brazenly
anti-Hindu journalists of a section of the English press express horror and
shock on the rise of popular Hindu nationalism which is dubbed as surfacing of
the resurgence of revivalists, Nazis and Fascists. No doubt, the agenda of
English press is becoming irrelevant and devoid of India's changing political
reality. They have lost sight of the main issue. Their world is bedeviled by the
persistent asking of wrong questions with an aim to hurt the majority community.
We are today exactly not aware of the devastating
consequences and poisonous effect of editorial line of self-styled champions of
liberal press which calls itself secular. The atmosphere of prejudice very often
translates into abysmal ignorance and senseless hatred for majority. They should
be prepared for the reaction and the backlash.
Secularists are spreading 'gloom and doom' predicting
disintegration of the society, sometimes by playing up of caste factor and
magnifying its diversity. They dig up all the uncouth adjectives sullying them
and their culture. But overuse of this abusive language expresses their
vicarious mindset every time they use it.
There are obvious limits of media power when denigration of
3000-year old culture is shamelessly resorted to with calculated
irresponsibility.

It is indeed unbelievable that
Akhilesh Mithal in his weekly column 'Itihaas' published in the Asian Age has
been pouring on venom on Hindus and Hindu organisations week after week with
calculated irresponsibility.
