CONGRESS INSULTS FREEDOM FIGHTERS

Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev had to face the ire of the Congress when he had expressed his opinion that saying India had achieved independence without arms, without bloodshed, was an insult to the country’s martyrs. The Congress gratuitously interpreted the simple, factual statement as an insult shown to Mahatma Gandhi.

PATNA IS PATLIPUTRA, NOT AZIMABAD

The UPA coalition competing hard with each other to lure the minority Muslims is trying all possible gimmicks to make them believe that it is their most trust-worthy saviour. Of the many ludicrous tricks played by various politicians, probably the most outrageous is Lalu Prasad Yadav’s demand for change in the name of the capital of Bihar from Patna to Azimabad.

JINNAH CANNOT BE VINDICATED

COMMENT: BHAGVAD GITA WILL BE BURNT

Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) president K Veeramani has alleged that Ramayana, one of the oldest and well-known epics of the world, besmirched women. The DK leader also said that the Bhagavad Gita and Manusmriti too denigrated the women folk. Hence, a demonstration would be held soon and these sacred scriptures of the Hindus would be burnt to ashes.

SALWA JUDUM - THE HEROIC UPRISING

Of the few things that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru got correct is his assessment of the Indian communists. He had once said, “The Indian Communists are certainly not patriots. They are not interested in the well-being of Indian people, whatever other cause they may be seeking to serve. They speak about the country in a derogatory manner abroad. They preach violence which can only lead to a disastrous civil war.”

ISLAM & CHRISTIANITY - TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN

Pope Benedict XVI has stepped into the controversy over Islam and violence by citing historic Christian commentary on holy war and forced conversion. He quoted from a book recounting a conversation between a 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam wherein the former says to the latter “show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached”.

THE DELINEATED INDIANS

CHIMNEY CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK!

Pope’s condemnation of India is uninvited and ridiculous. Isn’t it ironic that Pope, the head of the smallest independent nation in the world, which is neither secular nor democratic and is governed by a religious head elected by some cardinals, is advising religious freedom to one of the largest secular democracies?

Amongst contradicting reports and confusion, US President George W. Bush did finally visit Rajghat and pay homage to the Mahatma. CONGRESS'S DANDI YATRA - A POLITICAL GIMMICK

The BJP has very aptly called the re-enactment of the historic Dandi march on its 75th anniversary a political gimmick of the Congress. The hypocrisy is evident when the Congress president inaugurates the event by administering a pledge to follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi while in practice the party has deserted the principles of the Mahatma long ago.

MURDER OF DEMOCRACY

Panjim 2nd Feb, 2005. At 5.40 p.m. vote of confidence was won by the BJP government which had apparently been rendered into minority after the resignation of four MLAs. Yet, in a more than prompt response, the Congress governor dismissed the BJP government at 6.10 p.m. without even hearing out both the sides and a new Congress government was hastily sworn in at 11.30 in the night. Under the Indian Constitution and also as per the established norms of democracy, the Governor has no powers to annul the ruling of the Speaker and judiciary is the sole forum before which an appeal can be made against the Speaker’s ruling. But an outrageous assault on the Constitution was committed and democracy was murdered.

The vice-president, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat had said that “the arrows used during the battle (between Ram and Ravana) were, in fact, today’s missiles” while the Pushpak viman was actually an aeroplane. THE HINDU ART OF SELF HATE

SCREAMING HATRED AGAINST HINDUS : SECULARISTS AND THE REST OF US

The biggest tragedy which has befallen the country's tribe of so called analytical and perceptive leftists is their unbridled exhibition of eagerness to interpret situations which fit in well in their pre-conceived notions. Their analysis of communal question, their brand of secularism and their unconcealed glee over the aggressiveness of minorities is always done from the stand-point of their political requirements.

THIS IS COMPLETE DELIRIUM

The indictment of the majority community runs somewhat on these lines in the print media today:

A rise of nationalism cannot but be a political menace. The country would be crushed beneath the backward roll of Hinduism. The BJP is not an organisation seeking to enforce humanism and ecumenism of Hinduism. It is a well-honed instrument of fraud designed for the pursuit of power by using Hinduism much the same way that the Third Reich used Aryan purity to usher in its fascist millennium. This is the most dangerous kind of politics propagating terror, conflict and hate.

A BID TO DISTORT AND DISCOLOUR FAITH

In India, the damage to the existing social fabric was done ever since the British encouraged conversion as a matter of state policy. Christian missionaries virtually held a licence during British Raj to trade in human souls and to proselytise by force, fraud, inducement and deceit. Even Mahatma Gandhi had commented as far back as in 1935 : “ If Jesus came to earth again, he would disown many things that are being done in his name.”

ANATOMY OF A SMEAR : HINDUS WON’T ACCEPT ABUSES FROM ENGLISH MEDIA ANY LONGER

It is regrettable that an unbridled smear campaign against Hinduism is going on in a section of English press, which has not been able to exorcise the ghost of Indian brand of secularism.  A spate of senseless, wild comments, tinged with lunatic outbursts against Hindus have been surfacing signalling a crescendo of a well-orchestrated campaign of hatred with innuendo and half truths for quite sometime.

MEDIA FAILURE : MUST YOU HATE HINDUS SO MUCH ?

Why does a Hindu feel cheated today? Why does his bid to imitate matching methods of contending for his faith, just as Muslims or Christians adopt, bring a howl of protest from English media?  Is it a crime for a Hindu to talk of Hindu psyche, Hindu ethos, the faith of his forefathers and act according to his own perception and on his own terms for his religion?

THE ROLE OF SECULAR PRESS : WHY MUSLIMS ARE NOT A PART OF THE MAINSTREAM ?

There is little doubt that the secular press in India is full of bias and is over-enthusiastic in defending Muslims, always portraying Hindus as bigots and obscurantists and as being members of a fractured, sinking and declining society. Thus the English press is not true friend of Muslims but mere appendage to political parties.

COPING WITH A DISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN

It has been for quite sometimes that the fourth Estate in our country has been posturing as infallible, omniscient and judgmental on issues which are quite sensitive to majority community. It is employing its privileges with abuse. Those inimical to Hindus are acerbic in their condemnations, condone willful distortions in reporting and exhibit viciousness in presentation and are sometimes guilty of tailoring facts. They are sometimes hostile; at other times they would tell us what good Hinduism should be like, which is rather different from what Hindus think of it. A section of press first resented ‘modernisation’ then ‘tolerance’ pitting against it supposed bigotry and then got scared about its ‘semitisation’. It was however invariably an anti-Hindu theme with suitable variations.

APPEASEMENT: A LEAF FROM THE PAST

It may seem odd to compare the inexorable march of communalism and the process of appeasement which led to the partition of the country in 1947 with what has been happening in the country today. The same level of arrogance, assault on religious sensibilities of Hindus and the soft-pedalling by congress which was seen in pre-partition days is being re-enacted by those who swear by secularism in their bid to stem the rise and acceptance of Hindu sentiments.

In Sudan, an Islamic republic is fighting a war against its own Christian citizens.

MAJORITY ALIENATION

Ashish Nandy in an article entitled ‘The Fear of Gandhi’ published in Times of India (April 27, 1994) stated, amongst other things, about marginalisation of Hindu nationalism, that their idea of a Hindu Rashtra is only an edited version of the modern nation-state which they want to capture in the name of ancient faith. While the entire patriotic fringe was labelled as Nathuram Godse’s successors, he also commented that Hindutva comically mimics 19th century European nationalism. He further drew a dividing line amongst Hindu nationalists and how they show scant reverence for the plural culture of Hinduism as they carry in their views a deep hostility towards everyday Hinduism and ordinary Hindus.

REPLACING A DESTRUCTIVE IDEOLOGY

When American crowds chanted 'Evangelists for Reagan' or 'Jesus Loves Reagan' or banners and placards have legends like 'For Jesus, Vote Reagan', no ridicule or laugh was poured forth even in the slightest trickle by the intellectuals in this country. Reagan's open support by so many Christian groups possibly did not make Americans obscurantists. Obviously, it is the power which decides who is forward or backward. If a country is strong, even whipping or hand-chopping of guilty will get instant stamp of approval - at least from a section of our own intellectuals.

A WALL OF SUSPICION, OF REJECTION, OF FEAR…

In an attempt to save our society from its present confusion, many present day thinkers run the risk of planning it into the likeness of a hell and ultimately into complete destruction. And all this under the cover of good intentions, which are not enough to save the world today. This is the predicament of several intellectuals in our country who are ill-informed quite often about their own roots. At times it is a result of sterile academic mind with little or no matching wavelength for the social content in their exercises.
