The BJP has very aptly called the re-enactment of the historic Dandi march on its 75th anniversary a political gimmick of the Congress. The hypocrisy is evident when the Congress president inaugurates the event by administering a pledge to follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi while in practice the party has deserted the principles of the Mahatma long ago.

While delivering the 12th Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Lecture, External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh said, “Recollection of ancient wrongs of Muslim rulers is both fallacious and pernicious: there is no evidence to suggest the sustained persecution of Hindus by Muslim rulers''. Mr. Singh said that in support of these assertions there are frequent references to Indian history based on selective readings of old events and episodes and that indeed, the picture is quite the opposite.

Yet, in a more than prompt response, the Congress governor dismissed the BJP government at 6.10 p.m. without even hearing out both the sides and a new Congress government was hastily sworn in at 11.30 in the night. Under the Indian Constitution and also as per the established norms of democracy, the Governor has no powers to annul the ruling of the Speaker and judiciary is the sole forum before which an appeal can be made against the Speaker’s ruling. But an outrageous assault on the Constitution was committed and democracy was murdered.

In his Secular Sermon published in the Asian Age dated October 17^th 2004, Amulya Ganguli, political analyst and senior journalist, takes grave objection to the vice-president mouthing “gobbledy gook”. The vice-president, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat had said that “the arrows used during the battle (between Ram and Ravana) were, in fact, today’s missiles” while the Pushpak viman was actually an aeroplane. Also that “the progress that Germany and Japan have been making today is because of the knowledge that they took from India centuries ago. Therefore, our scientists need to study the Vedas and Indian culture connecting them with science so that India can be put back on the path of progress.”

In 1950, the then Maharaja of Indore, Yashwant Rao Holkar, wanted his son Richard, born of his American wife, to succeed him as the ruler of Indore. However, the then Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru (along with Sardar Patel and Rajendra Prasad) objected, making it clear that the son of his foreign wife could not succeed him.

The Hindu talent for self-condemnation does not find a parallel anywhere in the world. The art of self-hate is what the Hindus have mastered in during the latter half of the last century. The politicians, media, so-called secularists, intellectuals, human-rights activists who never tire condemning Hindus are themselves Hindus. The greatest enemies of the Hindus today are the Hindus themselves.

It is indeed unbelievable that Akhilesh Mithal in his weekly column 'Itihaas' published in the Asian Age has been pouring on venom on Hindus and Hindu organisations week after week with calculated irresponsibility.

The indictment of the majority community runs somewhat on these lines in the print media today: 

A rise of nationalism cannot but be a political menace. The country would be crushed beneath the backward roll of Hinduism. The BJP is not an organisation seeking to enforce humanism and ecumenism of Hinduism. It is a well-honed instrument of fraud designed for the pursuit of power by using Hinduism much the same way that the Third Reich used Aryan purity to usher in its fascist millennium. This is the most dangerous kind of politics propagating terror, conflict and hate.

These days it is a fashion amongst the Congress and other secular leaders to speak ill about the RSS and the Sangh Parivar. They accuse the RSS of preaching hatred, creating communal tension and dividing the society on the basis of caste and of killing Mahatma Gandhi. Some of them have even called the RSS a snake which should be killed and not fed with milk.

It seems that our Pseudo-Secularists have nothing to write or talk about except 'Hindu Fundamentalism', 'Babri Masjid' and 'BJP'. I am sick and tired of their vicious tirade against the BJP in particular and the so-called Hindu Fundamentalism in general.

After 56 years of sometimes tortured independence, our country has finally begun to forge an identity for modern times. While the face of India’s future is visible as it has embarked on its new journey with pride, its detractors and doubting Thomases, within the country and outside, have started a new chorus.

Most of the time political logic assumes a shape of perversion when a politician keeps a short-sighted view before him. In the recent no trust move against NDA government, in course of debate in the parliament Ram Vilas Paswan had the audacity to tell that the word ‘Hindustan’ itself should be banned from usage and only India or Bharat should be used.

There are many forms in which resistance is made today against Secularist dogmas and multi-culturalism across the globe.  Not long ago it was the Christian church which helped in bringing down the secular communist regimes in East Europe.  The religious leaders have played a crucial role in the battle against autocracies in South Africa and Philippines.

Islam does not recognise the concept of a nation. It does not see the world as made up of different nations with defined territorial boundaries. Islamic view of the world is based on an entire global community of faithfuls believing in the Prophet. It divides the world into two camps – Dar-ul-Islam (abode of Islam) and Dar-ul-Harb (abode of infidels).

In India, the damage to the existing social fabric was done ever since the British encouraged conversion as a matter of state policy. Christian missionaries virtually held a licence during British Raj to trade in human souls and to proselytise by force, fraud, inducement and deceit. Even Mahatma Gandhi had commented as far back as in 1935 : “ If Jesus came to earth again, he would disown many things that are being done in his name.”

There is clear evidence which confirms that some international Christian organisations are backing terrorism and separatist movements in the north-east. These church backed organisations are providing funds, arms and ammunitions with the aim of creating a separate Christian state.

CONFRONTING A VANDETTA

There are several church bodies which have perfected the art of slandering Hindus with finesse. They cloak their motives by putting up a false concern for the Indians and in this game a section of English print media offers its services, as if, without any hesitation.

It is widely held, and not without reason, that politicians from time to time say what they do not mean. The same is the fate of much talked about secularism which despite privately held beliefs of individuals, due to public postures has come to stay as the worst form of hypocrisy in public life.

ANATOMY OF A SMEAR : HINDUS WON’T ACCEPT ABUSES FROM ENGLISH MEDIA ANY LONGER

It is regrettable that an unbridled smear campaign against Hinduism is going on in a section of English press, which has not been able to exorcise the ghost of Indian brand of secularism.  A spate of senseless, wild comments, tinged with lunatic outbursts against Hindus have been surfacing signalling a crescendo of a well-orchestrated campaign of hatred with innuendo and half truths for quite sometime.

Why does a Hindu feel cheated today? Why does his bid to imitate matching methods of contending for his faith, just as Muslims or Christians adopt, bring a howl of protest from English media?  Is it a crime for a Hindu to talk of Hindu psyche, Hindu ethos, the faith of his forefathers and act according to his own perception and on his own terms for his religion?

There is little doubt that the secular press in India is full of bias and is over-enthusiastic in defending Muslims, always portraying Hindus as bigots and obscurantists and as being members of a fractured, sinking and declining society. Thus the English press is not true friend of Muslims but mere appendage to political parties.

It has been for quite sometimes that the fourth Estate in our country has been posturing as infallible, omniscient and judgmental on issues which are quite sensitive to majority community. It is employing its privileges with abuse. Those inimical to Hindus are acerbic in their condemnations, condone willful distortions in reporting and exhibit viciousness in presentation and are sometimes guilty of tailoring facts. They are sometimes hostile; at other times they would tell us what good Hinduism should be like, which is rather different from what Hindus think of it. A section of press first resented ‘modernisation’ then ‘tolerance’ pitting against it supposed bigotry and then got scared about its ‘semitisation’. It was however invariably an anti-Hindu theme with suitable variations.
