Going to a Church does not make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile W A Billy Sunday. 

Pope Benedict XVI hails from the land of Hitler and Nazidom. He is now living in a country which produced another great man of compassion like Benito Mussolini. It is not therefore surprising that he has warned the government and the people of India on the question of enactment of laws against conversion by duly constituted authorities under the law in India. 

The Pope’s protest about conversion laws in India is weird. Vatican does not take the permission of New Delhi to make laws.  Indian legislatures are sovereign and are elected by the people, unlike the Pope who is elected by a college of cardinals.

The Indian American community is outraged and appalled at the recent US’ decision to deny Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi a diplomatic visa and to revoke his pre-existing tourist/business visa. While every nation has the right to deny visa to a foreigner, the grounds upon which the US denied Modi a visa raises serious doubt about the real motive of US foreign policy towards India.

The United States has stuck to its guns expressing inability to revise its decision on Modi visas. Time to celebrate for all those secular-minded countrymen who deposed against their country before foreign commissions on religious freedom, for scholars who thrive on distorting history, for foreign-funded campus pedagogs, for proselytizers, for terrorists and in short for all those who wish an egg on India’s face. 

It is a conventional wisdom or rule of a thumb to ascertain the haul by customs when a percentage of such seizure is to be reached at. It is known that only 10 percent of contraband is intercepted and seized -- almost 90 percent gets in within the country undetected, kind of tip of iceberg.

Out of the one thousand years of Hindu slavery, about eight hundred years passed under Islamic Turks, Afghans or Mughals. During this period, Hindus kept on their fight and by the end of the 18th century, they had almost removed the Islamic rule when they, as well as Muslims, were overpowered by the British.

East and west Berlin have united. The cold war between the two super powers has ended. But in India "secularism" has not yet achieved proper communal harmony. Right from the days of Mahatma Gandhi's slogan of "Allah eshwar tero naam" till the present times of "5 % reservation for Muslims in Andhra Pradesh" innumerable slogans, appeals, and attempts have been made by the seculars in India to achieve long lasting communal peace and harmony. But the minorities yet feel that they are the victims of majority domination.

As India nears its 57th year of independence we ought to analyse as to how far India has been successful in breaking itself free from the shackles of slavery. No doubt India has made progress in some fields, we have been producing one of the finest professionals who are employed in various countries around the world. But upon analysis we find that India in 1947 attained mere 'political' independence and not 'intellectual', 'ideological' and 'cultural'. The soul of India yet remains suppressed by those forces which are influenced by colonial perceptions and thoughts.

The subject of 'India' and 'Hinduism', and their relationship is one of hot debate between the so-called Hindu Nationalists on the one hand and the pseudo-seculars and other opponents of Hindu Nationalism on the other. This article aims at making a realistic assessment of the relationship between the two entities 'India' and 'Hinduism', from a nationalist's perspective.

Swami Vivekananda at the parliament of religions in Chicago (1893) mentioned in his speech, that he was proud to belong to a Nation that gave safe refuge to several persecuted communities of the world. In history we find examples of the Jews, Syrian Christians, Zoroastrians, and in recent times the Tibetan Buddhists who after being driven out of their homeland sought safe refuge in India. The native Indians back then – Hindus not just accommodated these refugees but also gave them the freedom to practice their respective faiths.

History of the human civilisation is like that of an individual. If we were to forget all the lessons taught to us in our kinder gardens and primary schools, we would be unable to read or write. Our foundation has to always be kept intact for us to be able to build a bright future on it..

Illegal infiltration of crores of Bangladeshis into India; almost daily killings of innocents by the terrorists in Kashmir; Kashmiri Hindus' eviction from Kashmir to become refugees in their own country; and division of the nation into majority and minority are just some of the manifestations of the siege in which India finds itself.

Wake up India from your deep slumber and save yourself.
